Nate's Programming Blog

Well I had my phone interview today and I think it went pretty well, even though I didn’t explain polymorphism very well. I just don’t understand those questions. Ask me about what I’ve done, ask me to describe the process but I hate it when they just throw jargon at me. I’m not very good with it and I never have been, but I understand all the concepts they are trying to get out of me. The interview did go very well though. I think that I am actually a little over qualified for what they want, but I’ll adapt. They use their own implementations of open source libraries that are out there and would probably decrease their time quite a bit, but to each their own. I got a call not too long ago saying that the client wants to do an in person interview tomorrow sometime where they are going to as me questions like:

What would you do if you received a phone call at 3am in the morning from the network administrator saying that the servers crashed and they are unable to access the logs to see what went wrong?

You know, those kind of questions, which is worse than asking me to describe polymorphism. Well anyway, I hope it goes well because I’m starting to get that programming twitch caused by not getting enough of it and to be quite frank, the tech docs that I have been reading for the last couple of days are getting pretty old.

Well wish me luck and I’ll keep everyone updated (even though there is probably one person other than myself that actually reads this blog).

Me too, but usually I already know what’s going on so sometimes it’s redundant 🙂
