Nate's Programming Blog

Well my first day at Daugherty is over. I think it went pretty well. I talked with David who is one of the head guys at Daugherty quite a bit today. He kind of began the process of converting myself as well as some other consultants on the bench (This is what they call it when you are not assigned to a specific client) over to .NET, which I thought was cool. I’ve learned quite a bit about .NET already. C# is really a complete rip off of Java, but it does incorporate a lot of old c stuff that brought up memories of my college days. I didn’t get a chance to actually sit down in front of Visual Studio (The application used for creating .NET applications), but I did read a lot of tutorials. I thought I had a copy of Visual Studio .NET that Microsoft sent me last year, but when I got home I found out it was just Visual Basic .NET. I think I would still like to learn Visual Basic, but I don’t think it will be as quick of a learn as C#. I did receive a phone call this afternoon and it looks like I will be interviewing with one of Daugherty’s clients tomorrow. They are looking for a Java person, so my .NET asperations may just have to go on hold. We’ll see how things go tomorrow.
